You can’t reach your full potential if you’re busy watching others achieve theirs.
This is a phrase, motto, belief, whatever you want to call it that I live by. For me, nothing good comes from comparing yourself to others. If you’re doing better than your peers, then you become overconfident and complacent. If you’re struggling, you tend to cast blame and become jealous of others who are seeing success. Therefore, daily I keep my head down focus on my own goals and continue to push to be better.
Once a quarter, I come up for air and take a peak around. This is part of my reflection process to see if I can gain anything from others who are finding success and evaluate activities that aren’t successful.
When doing so this quarter I found I was #3 in our brokerage! A brokerage with 152 agents. I was only behind 2 agents who are consistently at the top and who have been selling real estate for over a decade. I hope this doesn’t come across braggadocious. This is just a moment to say to myself, I’m proud.
Now, back into the pool until next quarter.
