Finding a trustworthy realtor (like me) to deal with is one of the most crucial actions you can take if you want to sell your house. So how do you interview a realtor? Asking the correct questions during your listing appointment, or initial meeting, with your realtor can help you determine whether they are informed, competent, and a suitable fit for your needs. So here’s how to interview a realtor:
- What is your experience in real estate? It’s crucial to engage with a realtor that has a wealth of knowledge in the business, especially in your neighborhood. Ask them how many houses they’ve sold, what kinds of properties they’ve worked with, and how they’ve handled homes that are comparable to yours.
- How will you market my home? The marketing techniques your realtor employs can have a significant impact on the speed and price at which your house sells. Inquire about the various marketing strategies they employ, such as social media, online platforms, and print advertising. Ask them about the exact methods they intend to employ to sell your house as well.
- What is your pricing strategy? Please don’t trust Zestimate. Your real estate agent should be able to suggest a listing price that is reasonable given the local real estate market’s circumstances. Inquire about their pricing philosophy and the process they intend to use to choose the best listing price for your home.
- What is your communication style? While working with a realtor, communication in clear and timely is essential. Find out how they prefer to be reached and how frequently you can expect to hear from them. Furthermore inquire about their availability and their usual response time to calls and mails.
- How will you handle negotiations? It might be difficult to negotiate the price of your house for sale. Ask your realtor about their experience conducting negotiations with buyers and other agents, as well as about their negotiation skills.
- Can you provide references? Get recommendations from prior clients from your real estate agent. Speaking with former clients can provide you with important information about their interactions with the realtor and whether they would suggest them to others.
You can be sure you’re dealing with a realtor who is a good fit for your needs and who has the experience and expertise to help you sell your property quickly and for the greatest price by asking them these crucial questions during your listing session.
