Why is Daytona Beach Tourism Down?

Daytona Beach Tourism

Daytona Beach tourism is down for a number of reasons. According to Volusia County, Bed Tax Collections decreased by 5.7% percent in the county. These are fees the county collects every time someone stays in a hotel, motel, or lodging in the area.

This first and biggest reason is that the pandemic-fueled tourism boom is over. During the pandemic, many people were looking for an open and affordable vacation destinations. Daytona Beach fit the bill, as it is a relatively affordable vacation destination with plenty of outdoor activities. However, with the pandemic now in the rearview mirror, people are once again traveling to international destinations and other parts of the United States. 2021 and 2022 were astronomically profitable years for Daytona Beach, so it doesn’t come as a surprise this year is looking the way it is.

Another reason for the decline in tourism is that many hotels in Daytona Beach are still affected by Hurricane Ian. The hurricane caused significant damage to many hotels, including damage to their pools. This has made it difficult for hotels to attract guests, as many travelers are looking for hotels with pools.

Daytona Beach tourism officials are working to attract visitors back to the area. They are promoting the city’s many attractions, such as its beaches, boardwalk, and racing circuit. They are also working to help hotels recover from Hurricane Ian.

It is too early to say whether Daytona Beach tourism will rebound in the future. However, the city’s tourism officials are optimistic that they can attract visitors back to the area.

In the meantime, travelers looking for a vacation destination should consider Daytona Beach. The city has a lot to offer, and there are some great deals to be found on hotels.
