I took my kids to St. Augustine Florida this past weekend. I trip I remember taking when I was in Elementary School. There are some field trips I will never forget and this one of those. Maybe it’s my love of history or the fascination with forts and castles. I was hoping my kids would share the same excitement I did when I walked the steps toward the Castillo de San Marcos Fort.
While they didn’t exactly share the same excitement they did really enjoy it. St. Augustine Florida is one of my favorite cities in Florida and I would recommend you explore it’s magic.
St. Augustine is the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement in what is now the contiguous United States, founded on September 8, 1565, by Spanish admiral Pedro Menéndez de Avilés. The city is known for its Spanish colonial architecture, including the Castillo de San Marcos, a 17th-century Spanish fort made of coquina rock. Other popular tourist attractions include the Old Town Trolley Tour, the Lightner Museum, and the Fountain of Youth.
