I Sold Homes for Over a Decade. Then I Became the Client.

Chris Hoover moving from Florida to New Hampshire Southern NH real estate

I’ve helped hundreds of families buy and sell homes over the past decade. I know what it feels like to sit across the table from buyers making major life changes, including moving from Florida to New Hampshire.

Last month, I felt all of that myself.

On July 1, 2026, my family and I packed everything we owned and moved from Port Orange, Florida to Mont Vernon, New Hampshire. And I documented the whole thing.

What the Video Is About

This isn’t a polished highlight reel. It’s the real story of what it actually looks like to relocate your family across the country, from researching markets to making an offer, going through closing, and pulling up to a new home in a new state.

For years I’ve coached buyers through every step of this process. I’ve told clients what to expect, reassured them when deals got hard, and celebrated with them at closing. What I didn’t fully appreciate until this move: how different it feels when it’s your own family on the line.

Why New Hampshire

Southern New Hampshire kept rising to the top of our research. Hillsborough County offers something you can’t find in most markets right now: genuine value. No state income tax. Top-rated school districts in towns like Mont Vernon, Amherst, and Hollis. Commuter access to Boston without the Boston price tag. And a lifestyle, the seasons, the landscape, the pace, that we had been quietly craving for years.

Mont Vernon felt like the right fit the moment we visited. Small-town character, excellent schools, and the kind of community where neighbors still wave from their porches. At a Hillsborough County median around $585,000, it’s a fraction of what a comparable home would cost in eastern Massachusetts.

What I Learned Being the Buyer

Being on the buyer side of a real estate transaction is humbling. Even with all the experience I have, the emotional weight of a major move is real. The market moves fast. Good homes attract multiple offers. Timing matters, and so does preparation.

I’m sharing all of this on the channel because I think it’s useful. Whether you’re relocating to New Hampshire from Florida, from Massachusetts, or from anywhere else, the questions you’re wrestling with are the same ones I was asking. And now I can answer them from both sides of the table.

What’s Coming Next on the Channel

This first video is just the beginning. I’ll be posting regularly about life in Southern New Hampshire, the local real estate market, neighborhood deep-dives into towns like Nashua, Amherst, Milford, and Mont Vernon, and everything that comes with making a big move like this one.

Southern New Hampshire is genuinely one of the best places to live on the East Coast right now. Great schools, no state income tax, four seasons, and a real estate market that still offers real value compared to nearby Massachusetts. If you’ve been thinking about a move, this channel is built for you.
