Wilton Project Linus brings neighbors together to make blankets for local hospitals and emergency services this October. The Wilton Community Center’s Project Linus sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, and Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Both meetings run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at 21 Gregg Street in Wilton.
Wilton Project Linus makes a local difference
The community center’s calendar invites participants to make blankets that will go to local hospitals, police, fire and emergency service departments. The listing identifies those types of recipients without naming individual agencies or giving a blanket-making target.
Nationally, Project Linus organizes volunteers who create new handmade blankets for children facing illness, trauma or other difficult circumstances. Its work combines practical comfort for children with a community service opportunity for the people making the blankets. The organization says blankets are collected locally and distributed through settings such as hospitals, shelters and social service agencies.
Find the Gregg Street entrance
The Wilton Community Center is housed in the Second Congregational Church Annex, just off Main Street. Its wheelchair-accessible entrance is at the back of the building, according to the center’s visitor information.
The center also states that its activities are nonsectarian and welcomes everyone to attend. For anyone visiting the building for the first time, the rear entrance is a useful detail to check before the morning session.
Plan for Wilton Project Linus
The October calendar does not specify a supply list, experience requirement or registration process for these sessions. Contact the center before buying materials or bringing a project, especially if you would like guidance on getting started.
The center’s contact page lists 603-422-2300 and an online contact form. Useful questions include whether materials are provided, which blanket styles the group is making and whether you should sign up in advance.
A separate evening for fiber artists
For residents who also enjoy working on their own projects, the center lists an adult Craft Café on Friday, October 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the same address.
The monthly gathering offers space for table looms, spinning wheels, knitting and crochet, along with hot or cold specialty teas. Program coordinator Stephanie can answer Craft Café questions at programs@wiltoncommunitycenter.org.
